Introduction
One of the many legal runs that you can do on the island of Altis is Platinum mining. Platinum is an ore found in the ground that can be processed and sold as ingots and is one of the first recommended runs for newer players as its payout can be increased with the use of a Worker's Protection License.
Starting The Run
Before starting this run, it is strongly recommended to check the price of platinum for optimal profits and to follow the list below to make sure you have all the required equipment.
- A pickaxe (Purchased at gas stations/markets) Required for collecting platinum
- Food & Water
- Bergen Backpack for space
- A vehicle to store the platinum
- Platinum processing license ($10,000 at the DMV)
- Head to the Platinum Mine south of DP8 to fill your vehicle and optionally your backpack using left windows key in the platinum mine area
Processing
- Head east of the platinum mine to the platinum processor to refine your goods into platinum ingots.
- To process, scroll wheel on the Processor NPC in the shed, you can either process from the vehicle or from your backpack and must remain 25m of the NPC.
- Before pressing Process, it will give you the time required to process. Canceling processing will process items up to the progress you obtained.
Selling
- After finishing processing take your vehicle to the platinum trader west of Neochori by the hospital.
- Scroll wheel on the platinum trader to sell your platinum ingots on your person, you will need to manually remove the ingots from the vehicle to sell.
- When finished selling go to any ATM the closest being down the road to store the money via scroll wheel or left windows key on the ATM.
Payout
Using a box truck with no storage upgrades and a bergen backpack (210 platinum Ingots) will yield a payout of $375,155 (WPL: $431,428)
Run Time
Using a box truck with no storage upgrades, bergen backpack, and T4 turbo this run will take 27 minutes and 30 seconds with no real difference with any alternate routes posted in the screenshots. With a Worker's Protection License to increase processing, it will take 22-25 minutes.
